Curriculum For Public Worship Leadership
In recent years we have discovered a number of church leaders who have volunteered to work in the ministry of public worship. They seek to plan a public assembly that will accomplish all that our Lord would have the assembly to achieve. These men often would like to have an opportunity to take an in-depth study in the process of the public assembly. We offer a special program for these men. The following is a description of our unique curriculum for them.
We offer nineteen hours of fast paced and very intensive study of public worship. Each unit in this series begins with Bible study. It is followed by an examination of the worship culture of the modern church. We examine practical ideas of ways to apply the teachings of the Bible to the modern church to be effective without being offensive. A key theme in this study is that we need to bring the church together instead of creating division over worship methods. This series includes a survey of worship in the Old Testament and New Testament. We then study the worship culture of the modern church so we can determine the limits of our ability to be creative. This class then presents a detailed analysis of each aspect of the assembly. This includes: singing, praying, the Lord's Supper, scripture readings, and giving. We also survey the hospitality dimension of the assembly -- greeters, ushers, and pew captains. Those who attend this workshop also participate in the advanced song leading classes where they can study a variety of advanced classes to further expand their horizons. These students also attend sight reading classes, chapel worship, and have the option to participate in song leading coaching.
